INTRODUCTION TO BEIJING
Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China, the political, economic, scientific and cultural center of China, as well as one of the centers of domestic and international exchanges.
The city has a land area of 16,400 square kilometers, with 10,200 square kilometers of mountainous areas, accounting for about 62% of the total area, and 6,200 square kilometers of plains, accounting for about 38% of the total area. Beijing has a typical temperate semi-humid continental monsoon climate, with an average annual temperature of 10-12 degrees C. The autumn season, from October to November, is a short period of time, but the most pleasant time for the climate.
With a long history of more than 3,000 years and a capital of more than 850 years, Beijing is a world famous historical and cultural city and one of the four ancient capitals of China. As early as 700,000 years ago, a group of primitive people called "Peking Man" appeared in the Zhoukoudian area of Beijing, and the first recorded name of Beijing was "Ji". Only a few cities in the world have served as the political and cultural center of a country for as long as Beijing has.
In 2022, the city will have a resident population of 21.843 million, a gross regional product of 4.16 trillion yuan, and a total import and export value of 3.64 trillion yuan.
Beijing is one of the most developed regions in China in terms of education. There are 92 general institutions of higher learning in Beijing, including some of China's most prestigious institutions such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China and Beijing Normal University.
Beijing successfully hosted the 2008 Summer Olympic Games and the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, becoming the world's first "Double Olympic City", which has left a deep impression on people all over the world. The main stadiums in Beijing are: National Stadium (Bird's Nest), National Swimming Center (Water Cube), Beijing Workers Stadium, Wukesong Stadium, National Tennis Center, Beijing Olympic Water Park, Capital Gymnasium, Beijing University Gymnasium, Beijing National Olympic Center Gymnasium.
